Over the summer i read a great book. the book is Drama by Raina Telgemeier. this book is a very great book, i can really relate to it because Callie is in 7th grade. Callie has to deal with a lot of drama and this book was so interesting i didn't even wanna put it down.
Callie is in middle school and she loves participating in school activities, like I do.  I know my favorite parts where the parts when boys got involved in Callie’s life. Callie discovers that her crush Greg is single now. She tries to make him feel better and builds up the courage to kiss him on the cheek. The Greg kisses Callie on the lips! Callie gets excited but everything doesn’t turn out the way she thinks it would. Greg still doesn’t like Callie even after they kissed and talked, he still likes his ex girlfriend bonnie. Callie doesn’t know what to do but she just tries to find out who likes her.
Callie then meets two guys that she soon creates great friendships with. Their names are Justin and Jesse and they are twins. Callie finds out that Justin is gay and she starts to get feelings for Jesse. Justin tries out for the school play and gets a part and Callie and Justin create a great friendship afterschool. Then Bonnie tries out for the play and gets the girl lead. Callie gets mad but she tries to keep her mind off of Greg and Bonnie for a while so that she can really concentrate on the play. Then when Callie decides to take everyone to the basement she finds Bonnie and the boy lead (West) making out behind the costumes. She decides to just let it all go and not worry about boys. Bonnie and West start dating and Greg starts talking to Callie again. He talks to her about the 8 grade formal and she doesn’t know if Jesse or Greg will ask her out and she starts worrying and going crazy thinking that none of them will ask her. I feel that a lot of girls in our grade worry about boys liking them but I say that you should wait. Having a boyfriend isn’t important, you should really look around and see who your true friends are.
Callie finally gets asked to the 8 grade formal by Jesse. They have a great time and then Jesse says he has to go to the bathroom. He sneaks outside to talk to west for 2 hours. Callie gets mad and she decides to run to the hallway and she bumps into Greg there. Greg was going to the 8 grade formal with Bonnie but she ditched him for high school freshmen. Callie and Greg decide to talk and hangout for the rest of the night. Greg goes in for a kiss but Callie just walks away she is done with boys for the night. The next day she figures out that Jesse is also gay and they have a heartwarming conversation. Then after all the drama is over Matt, Greg’s younger brother tells Callie the truth, he liked her the whole year. Callie is now happy and nothings confusing to her anymore. she realized that she wasnt reallly being herself arounf Greg because he was so popular and cute. she was herself around Matt because they were friends but now they might become something more.
This book is such an inspiring book and I couldn’t stop reading it. Raina really wanted readers to not be afraid of being themselves. You can find the right friends and the right answers in your life if you just be yourself and don’t let anyone judge you. Callie really inspired me to just deal with your problems because they don’t last forever and in the end nothings confusing anymore. When Callie says “I can manage on my own” after Greg asks to walk her home It shows me that you can’t be afraid of anything and you can only rely on yourself. All and all this book was very inspiring it has so much drama and action that you don’t even want to put the book down.It also made me realize that all my friends have a very special place in my heart and my friends are always there for me. I am now going to use her advice and have a good year in 8 grade that is why i  really recommend the book Drama by Raina Telgemeir.
